This article discusses the significance of the month of March and how you can practically utilize this month’s energies to restore balance and well-being in your everyday life. I also give you access to an imagery exercise which you can apply to carry you through this process.

March was named for the Latin “Martius” – also known as the ancient Greek deity Aries or the Roman deity Mars, the God of war.

In ancient times, it used to be the first month of the year in the 10-month Roman calendar because it was related to the first day of spring.

January became the first month of the calendar year in around 700 BCE. Although January 1st is New Year’s Day, many cultures and religions still celebrate the beginning of the new year in March.

Interestingly, before Mars became known as a war-deity, it actually represented fertility and agriculture in the Northern Hemisphere. It oversaw the new growth of spring, and encouraged the continuation of life (fertility and procreation in humans, plants and animals)..

Together with courage, protection, and warrior skills, March stands for righteousness, renewal and rebirth.

In January we entered the New Year with the masculine energy of the number 1, January being the 1st month, and with February, the 2nd month, we were influenced by the feminine energy of 2. March is the 3rd month, and 3 is the synthesis of 1 and 2. In March, we are stepping forward into the season of growth, rebirth, and renewal.

It is time for action.

Whether a god of war or agriculture, Mars or Aries is charging, unrelinquishing and brutally assertive. At this point in the year, there is no stopping the burgeoning birth of new life.

Be a warrior against ignorance and inertia within you.

March signifies a reigniting of the hearts and consciousness of humanity. This month we feel the underlying kicks of Spring from deep in the womb of Mother Earth. We are rejuvenating… our spirit yearns for action and we are attuning ourselves to a forward moving-energy.

The vernal or spring equinox occurs during this month, falling on the 19th, 20th, or 21st day of the month. This month was also marked a time when war would resume after the winter months. During the Vernal or Spring Equinox in the northern hemisphere the sun lines up with the Equator, bringing the Earth into a complete point of balance. Combined with the energies of the upcoming New Moon, this is a powerful time for new ideas to take root and begin flowering. We are deeply connected to Earth and her seasons. Our ancient ancestors knew this and revered the cycles accordingly.

This energy carries creativity and a need to express emotions, ideas, and thoughts. You can work with this energy to give birth to new ideas and projects in your life. If problems need solving, use this energy for finding creative solutions!
The energy of 3 corresponds with Jupiter, and Jupiter is the teacher of righteousness, justice, and self-illumination. Coincidentally…not…, in Hindu scriptures, Jupiter is a planet of courage, boldness, power, knowledge, and speech which correlates to the significance of Mars or Aries.

So, the energies of this month of March can help us take action on our thoughts and aspirations. It is a time of advancement and forward movement propelling us into the future.

This month is the time to re-assess the intentions you had set at the beginning of the year. You can use the Mars energy of courage, and willpower to make bold new choices that will catapult you forward on your path to the Highest Good.

One thing to be aware of, however, is that Aries or Mars can influence your impulsivity. The Greek word for impulse is «παρόρμηση» –parormisi. It means to be carried away by your primitive, instinctual urges. It is a habitual tendency within us.

What you can do is replace impulsivity with faith. Faith is a higher and refined expression, also innate in us. It is an intuitive force, powered by the information your brain registers and which is generated from the intelligence of your heart. It is one of the most powerful forces known to man.

You cannot apply faith to what you already know. Faith is placing your trust in the unknown, in the invisible reality. Placing your trust into what you cannot physically see and verify, and into what you can now feel, sense and perceive is possible and waiting for you. What you feel, sense and perceive derives from what you are experiencing in the process of getting to where you wish to go. The process requires action, which means, that by taking action on your faith, one step at a time, your faith becomes more powerful and you acquire greater self-confidence.

Now, remember what I said in my YouTube video about the energies of January regarding setting intentions and goals. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do, so that you can understand what I’m talking about. What undermines your faith is the desire to control your future. Your desire to control your future creates the need to see evidence of your future. The need for evidence poses the risk of inertia or of veering from your life’s direction.

You cannot control your future, not only because it doesn’t exist yet, but because you’re not the only human being projecting intentions and goals. We are all, collectively, creating our outer reality and we are all influencing each other’s reality.
What you can control is how you respond and whether you have the faith to be flexible and navigate your way forward from the present moment. It is true that we have the power in our hearts and mind to create our reality; however, expecting a specific outcome eliminates all other possibilities that can be available to you.
Trusting what you see, sense and feel in the present, assists you to successfully navigate yourself towards the unknown future and it informs you with the truth of what may lie ahead.

In the YouTube video about the energies of February, I speak about spiritual cleansing errors of the past. Clearing yourself of limiting beliefs that you currently hold, which you had formed in your past, opens the road and gives you a better view of what lies ahead of you. You can choose either to allow your past to create your future, or you can trust the process in the moment by setting a conscious intention and allowing yourself to be open and flexible to change according to the flow of life.

When we are aligned with truth and have faith in the unknown lying ahead of us and, most importantly, when we act upon our faith, we receive what we need in the form of support from the universe. You approach the day with the faith that what comes is what you need: in other words, the universe will support you. When we have no faith and veer from the truth, we receive what we need in the form of experiences like pain or other imbalances that show us the error of our ways and give us the opportunity to correct them.
Faith replaces the tyranny of our habitual expression with spiritual freedom and strength, with our true inner power.

This is a good time to use your willpower and courage and act upon your intentions now.

Be a true warrior of spirit. A warrior of spirit is characterized by both faith and action. Not just by one or the other, but by both. A true warrior of spirit does not demand the outside to change for him, nor does he expect others, such as the government, the authorities and the “experts” to create the ideal conditions for him to live in the world he desires. A true warrior of spirit cultivates in himself the qualities he wishes to see in his world and he shows others the way by example.

If you’re interested in strengthening your faith and clearing your path of obstacles, setting the motion of your life forward, I’ve created an imagery exercise which will help you do just that. As always it’s for free. All you are required to do is enter your name and email. I don’t bombard people with sales messages.
