Dante’s Pure Imagination
Dante exquisitely describes the experience of pure imagination, not to be confused with fantasy.
As the late Dr. Gerald Epstein used to say “…Mental imagery is receiving light, in small regular doses…“.
So my imagining fell way
as soon as light, more powerful than light
we are accustomed to, struck my eyes.
I looked to see where I may be,
When a voice called out: “Here one can ascend”.
Then I abandoned every other intent.
