MENTAL IMAGERY EXERCISE
First, set your intention. To transmute stage fright and anxiety.
Sit up straight in a chair, legs and arms uncrossed and close your eyes. Breathe evenly and regularly– long slow exhalations through the mouth and brief, normal inhalations through the nose. After several of these full respiratory cycles:
See, sense and feel that your stepping onto a stage or a platform and are about to give a presentation, a lecture or perform in front of an audience.
Feel the habitual emotion you experience of stage fright and anxiety.
Breathe out once long and slow from the mouth..
Imaginally open your arms and embrace the audience. Take it into your arms.
Now, become one with the audience, merge with it. Do this without reservation, doubt, hesitancy, or inhibition.
The audience in your arms is transforming into a gentle golden sphere, absorbing and transmuting all traces of anxiety, fear or stage-fright into a sense of unconditional acceptance and oneness.
How do you feel? If there is still a trace of fear, anxiety or stage fright, intensify the golden light of the sphere in any way you wish, to absorb and transform the last traces.
With one long exhalation from the mouth, know that you and the audience are now one golden sphere of acceptance and oneness.
On the next long out-breath, open your eyes.
Write down your experience.
Don’t spend more than a minute or two on the exercise. These exercises are not meant to be done for more than one or two minutes. By doing them, you receive small doses of light on a daily basis and you breathe life into your intention and strengthen your voluntary will.
It’s just like in homeopathy, the principle of which is that small doses accelerate the healing and transformational process, whereas extended stimuli suppress it.
